Rural & Agricultural
Infrastructure

Montana's expansive landscapes require specialized engineering. We provide rugged, practical infrastructure design for remote properties, working ranches, large-acreage farmsteads, and off-grid builds.

Taming
The Frontier

A 300-acre property in rural Montana plays by entirely different rules than an urban lot in Bozeman or Missoula. Deep snowpack, rushing spring melts, expansive clay soils, and massive distances to municipal grids pose unique challenges.

We are deeply comfortable working outside city limits. We focus on durability, designing infrastructure that requires minimal maintenance, survives harsh weather windows, and withstands heavy agricultural equipment.

Rural Access Roads & Driveways

Access is the lifeblood of rural property. Standard city street engineering directly fails when applied to steep, mountainous terrain or deep rural grazing land.

We engineer rural roads and multi-mile driveways engineered for all-weather survivability. We design proper longitudinal slopes, implement strategic switchbacks, specify appropriate roadbed sub-base materials given the underlying soils, and ensure emergency service (fire apparatus) turnaround requirements are met. Most importantly, we evaluate cross-sloping and ditching to guarantee the road does not wash away during a May rainstorm.

Drainage, Culverts, & Crossings

Water always wins. Your property's infrastructure must either safely convey it or inevitably be destroyed by it. Montana terrain is notorious for unpredictable sheet flow and seasonal creeks that rapidly expand.

We size culverts using regional hydrological data to pass peak storm flows seamlessly under your access roads without causing catastrophic washouts. We also design agricultural drainage ditches, retention measures, and broad-based dips for low-volume ranch roads. If your property involves traversing a regulated waterway, we can coordinate the engineering parameters required to secure joint-application permitting through the Army Corps of Engineers and local conservation districts.

Long-Distance Utility Extensions

Building the perfect retreat miles from the nearest paved road means dragging utility lines across incredibly tough terrain.

Whether trenching power and fiber optic lines three miles up a gravel road, dropping an agricultural irrigation well, or laying a long-run force main to transport wastewater from a low-lying pasture to an upland treatment field, we manage the geometry. We calculate voltage drops across distances, specify correct pipe sizing to overcome massive friction losses in water lines, and provide clear plans so contractors aren't guessing in the trench.

Irrigation Design & Retrofitting

We design new irrigation systems and retrofit existing ones to improve efficiency, coverage, and water management for agricultural and large-acreage properties.

Engineering That Respects The Land.

From thousand-acre ranch operations to private mountain retreats, let's build infrastructure that lasts for generations.
