Construction
Support
Plans are only as good as the execution. We aggressively bridge the gap between abstract engineering theory and cold, hard ground-truth construction on Montana job sites.
Execution
In The Trenches
A project does not stop when the final stamp hits the drawings. When blueprints meet the bucket of an excavator, unforeseen variables suddenly emerge.
Unmeasured utility crossings, massive bedrock veins, sudden groundwater infiltration—these real-world realities demand an engineer who is not afraid to leave the office, throw on boots, and solve dynamic problems directly alongside the men and women doing the heavy lifting.
Contractor Coordination & RFIs
Communication breakdowns between the engineer of record and the massive heavy equipment operators executing the work will rapidly destroy your project budget. Time spent waiting for an engineer to answer a simple grading question translates directly into expensive machine standby hours.
At MK Civil Engineering, our philosophy is to respond rapidly and decisively to all Requests for Information (RFIs). We aggressively coordinate with general contractors, sitework supervisors, utility sub-contractors, and permitting inspectors. Our plans are inherently drafted with constructability in mind, utilizing plain language so that contractors aren't forced to guess what the intent was.
Site Observations & Field Adjustments
Soil maps and initial topographic surveys only tell part of the story. Once dirt begins moving, Montana topography regularly reveals hidden obstacles that necessitate immediate, competent adjustments to the plan.
We frequently mobilize to the job site to conduct construction observations, ensuring that the installation of complex stormwater retention basins, pressurized wastewater mains, and steep access roads align precisely with the permitted designs. When the site conditions drastically deviate from what was modeled—whether hitting unexpected groundwater or discovering undocumented legacy utility lines running through your property—we engineer rapid, compliant field solutions that keep machinery moving without compromising the integrity of the project or violating municipal permits.
Record Drawings & As-Builts
What was drafted in AutoCAD and what was definitively buried in the ground are frequently two different things.
Securing your final Certificate of Occupancy, finalizing a subdivision, or formally handing over dedicated public infrastructure (like water or sewer mains) to the local municipality almost always requires certified Record Drawings (As-Builts). We rapidly compile post-construction GPS survey data, redline contractor markups, and field notes into meticulously accurate As-Built documents. We formally certify exactly what was constructed, providing the city, county, or DEQ the confidence needed to issue final, unconditional approvals.
The Difference Lies In Communication
Most change orders stem from poor blueprints. We focus intensely on drafting transparent line work and actively answering the phone when the trench is open.
Without Support
